Dr. Davida Coe-Brockington, Principal

 

Davida L. Coe-Brockington is the principal of the Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy. The school is located in the Morgan Village section of Camden. The Creative Arts High School opened in 1999 at the old John W. Mickle Elementary School serving students in grades nine – 12th with the goal of providing academic excellence and cultural awareness through the arts. The Creative Arts High School combined with the Morgan Village Middle School in 2011 and renamed the Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy to expand their goal by serving students in grades 6 - 12. The school has an arts focus, and students are given a firm foundation in the liberal arts. The school’s mottos are Where the Arts and Academics Live and Thrive and The Art of Learning is Learning through the Arts.

Dr. Coe-Brockington has served as principal of the Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy since it opened in 2011. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and taught English at Camden High School before becoming an administrator. Dr. Brockington worked as curriculum supervisor before becoming the principal of Creative Arts High School in 1999. She has over 25 years of experience in providing expert instruction, educational leadership, staff development programs, development of curriculum, and bringing high expectations and rigor to the school’s academic program. Additionally, she has worked as an adjunct professor and instructor for Camden County College and Rowan University.

 Dr. Coe-Brockington received a bachelor’s degree in Arts English and mass communications from Virginia State University, a master’s of science from Saint Joseph’s University, a master’s of education in school administration from Cheyney University and a doctor of education in school administration and educational leadership from Widener University.

 Dr. Brockington was born and reared in Philadelphia. She is married with one daughter and currently resides in South Jersey.
