Students applying for 2016-2017

MUST APPLY THROUGH THE SCHOOL ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Students entering grades 6th, 9th and 10th ONLY can apply.

 Student Selection Process

Applicants must show a strong interest in their selected performing arts discipline. The student selection committee will review all applications SUBMITTED ON LINE.. Each program area will have its own interview/audition selection committee. Specific program criteria are listed in the “Audition Information” link. 

Audition/selection committee members rate each application to determine the applicant’s potential for success in his/her program of interest.

Applicants meeting the selection criteria are placed in the qualified selection pool and are invited to audition. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

The following criteria have been established as guidelines for the selection process:

  1. Student applicants MUST be residents of Camden City, New Jersey.
  2. Students who are applying must not have accumulated more than seven (7) absences during the school year.
  3. Students must maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 2.5 for all subjects. Students with G.P.A. below 2.5 will be required to give an explanation justifying their admittance to Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy.
  4. Students must submit a minimum of two recommendations as part of the application process: one from a teacher, and the second specifically from a teacher of your intended major area. (Ex. band teacher, dance teacher) Recommendations from family members are not accepted.
  5. Students MUST select Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy on the School Enrollment Form which includes student’s information, parental permission, audition profile, report cards, letters of recommendations and a short essay.
  6. Students must report for a personal interview, placement test and an audition for aptitude in Visual Art, Instrumental Music, Dance, Drama, Vocal Music, Fashion Design, Strings, or Creative Writing with school staff and/or professionals in the field.
  7.  Parents and students must sign a contract acknowledging their understanding that if students do not maintain a G.P.A. of 2.5 or incur discipline infractions they will be transferred to the appropriate comprehensive high school.
